Working for us

Our approach to investment is based on an
open mind and a long term perspective.

We take the same approach to recruitment.

Open mind, long-term approach

Our firm is founded on relationships. We’re proud of our people - they are the heart of our past and future success as a firm.

Established in 1986, McInroy & Wood is owned by employees and directors, with the controlling share held by the Wood family. We’ve nurtured a friendly, collegiate approach with a culture that places high value on relationships and putting our clients first.

Responsibility leads to rewards

In a firm our size, everyone has a role to play from day one. Successful candidates are those that thrive on early responsibility; we reward them with opportunities and build on their personal strengths, offering both structured training and personal development. As part of our commitment to our people, we actively support employees in pursuing and achieving professional exams and certifications.

Work life balance

We fully support our employees in having a healthy work life balance so that they can pursue their passions, hobbies and commitments outside the working environment. We trust our people to manage their time and ask for support when it is needed – and in turn support their colleagues too.

Our headquarters is in Haddington, around 20 miles outside Edinburgh. We also have offices in London and Harrogate.

Girls Are INvestors - GAIN

McInroy & Wood supports the Girls are INvestors (GAIN) initiative and in 2021 we hosted our first dedicated GAIN internship. GAIN is a community of investors whose aim is to broaden gender diversity within the investment management industry. The initiative seeks to inform and inspire young women to consider careers in investment management through talks in schools and universities, as well as building resources to support women through the early years of their career.
